Core academic subjects, as well as computer education, physical education, and fine arts, form the foundation of our curriculum. Requirements are based on national standards or objectives, standards established by the State of Alabama in its course of study, and the Archdiocese of Mobile’s Office of Catholic Schools. Our curriculum provides students with a challenging program that is accredited by AdvancED.
Students receive instruction in the following subjects everyday math, English and language arts, religion, social science, science, and physical education. In addition, once a week students attend art, music, and computer technology classes. Students in 3rd grade through middle school study Spanish.
The curriculum goes beyond academic subjects. In our preschool and primary grades, students use centers, encourage art and music for creative expression, provide spoken and written language experiences, and explore nature to expand the wonder of the classroom.
Elementary grades focus on organizational patterns for developing study skills, independent study, determining facts from opinion, task completion, and working cooperatively. The students’ investigative world widens to include measurement, data collection, fact-finding, and models of questioning.
Middle school students build on all of the foundational skills learned in preschool through 5th grade and learn life skills that are needed in early adolescence. Some of the skills and topics integrated into the curriculum include peer relationships, leadership skills, independent expression, critical thinking, and growing self-awareness.
