Arrival and Dismissal Procedures: K-8th grades

Take-in for students will begin at 7:20 AM. Before that, students may be dropped off for morning care beginning at 7:00 AM. Early morning care is available at 6:00 AM in the Preschool Building for $3.00 per day/child.

    From 7:20-7:55

K-8 students go directly to their classroom, where teachers will be on duty.
With the exception of students with preschool siblings and those designated as walkers, students will be dropped off through the carpool in the lot behind the gym.

Parents will pull into the parking lot as in the past. When all cars are stopped and it is safe, teachers on duty (red dots in the diagram represent teachers) will direct students to unload. We ask that students be ready to exit their vehicles when pulling up in the morning.

Walking students to the classroom is permitted on the first day of school and other announced days. If you would like to walk your child to their entry point on other days, you must park in one of the lots along McKenna and walk with your student down the front sidewalk of the school to their entry point.  Please, never use the ramp in front of the community center; this is unsafe.  And please, never drop your child off anywhere other than the designated carpool area. If you are not driving through carpool, you must accompany your child.

Parents cannot pull into the main teacher/school parking lot after 7:20 AM. Again, students may not be dropped off at any other location on campus except for our carpool line. If you are dropping off a preschool student in addition to K-8 students, those students may walk on the sidewalk from the preschool but must be escorted by a parent to the preschool entrance.

If a student lives within walking distance of the school, you may fill out a walker release form in the office. All students walking home from school must have this form filled out.

    Dismissal for Grades K-8

We have staggered dismissal times.  General rules for afternoon dismissal include:
    • Arrive to carpool at the time designated for your oldest child and not before.
    • You will receive a plaque/hangtag for your family. Please make sure this is hanging from your rearview mirror so it is easy for teachers to read.

K-2nd Grades:  (begin to dismiss at 2:45)
3rd-5th Grades:  (begin to dismiss at 2:55 )
6th-8th Grades:  (begin to dismiss at 3:05)

Please do not arrive before your designated time. Follow the traffic flow to the area directed by the teacher. A map for the pickup flow is below (red dots indicate teachers on duty).

While we do not want parents to get out of their vehicles and walk to meet their child on the veranda, you are welcome to step outside your car and stand if it will help with recognition. We do ask that you remain beside your car. Teachers will ensure students get to cars safely when the traffic is not moving.

We suggest turning your hazards on during loading time if you are waiting for a child to load and turning them off once you have all of your students.
Once you have your children with you, please turn off your hazards and remain in place until instructed to safely pull forward through the lot. Do not pull forward until you are instructed to do so.

    Parents with Multiple Students

For parents of students with multiple siblings, please come at the oldest student’s time. In an effort to move carpool quickly, students in grades K-2  will return to the primary building after the next car wave begins.

To pick up a K-2 student after their designated carpool time (but before 3:30):

Pull into the lot as directed by the teacher and pick up any older students. As traffic begins to exit, instead of turning right, please pull along the front of the primary building next to the curb all the way to the courtyard. The teachers will be notified you are arriving via radio, and someone will escort your student out to you.

Please know teachers will always be on hand to direct you where to go in the lots. Students not picked up by 3:30 will be signed into Afterschool Care.

    Preschool Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Please note the differences in arrival and dismissal procedures for our Preschool Students.

    Morning  drop-off from 7:20 to 7:55

ALL preschool parents will park to walk their child into the preschool. Parents may park in either the parking lot adjacent to the preschool or diagonal from the preschool. No cars will park in front of the preschool. Parents will unload and escort their children through the front door of the preschool to their classroom. Parents will “say their goodbyes” at the classroom door, and the teacher will guide the student into class. If a student arrives after 8:00am, the front desk assistant will walk the child to class to minimize late disruptions.

Afternoon carpool pick-up: Dismissal for all preschool begins at 2:45pm

PreK3 and PreK4 parents will pick up students from the back of the preschool building. Parents may park in either the parking lot adjacent to the preschool or diagonal from the preschool and follow the sidewalk through the black gate.
The gate will be unlocked at 2:45 PM each day. If you have students in K-8th grade, please pick up your preschool child first. PreK2 students are picked up at the side entrance to their classroom. There is a locked gate that will be monitored by a classroom teacher during pick-up. Students not picked up by 3:30 will transition to Afterschool Care.

    Half Day Preschool Students

Half-day preschool students will be picked up from the front of the preschool building at Noon. All half-day students will be walked out at the same time.

Early Morning Care/Afterschool Care for Preschool

Parents dropping off preschool students during Early Morning Care from 6am to 7am, or for Morning Care from 7am to 7:20am will do so through the front doors of the preschool building.

Afterschool Care from pick up, between 3:30pm and 5:45pm, will be through the black gate and at the back door of the first classroom.
